This plan seeks to address climate issues through recommendations, education, rebates, and incentives, not through mandates. Mavis' vision for Kane County is cleaner air and water, improving our own health and quality of life, while doing our part to curb climate change at the same time. The plan offers a blueprint for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, buildings, and energy consumption. The plan is intended to provide guidance for climate actions to be taken by Kane County, and to provide municipalities and other public agencies a menu of actions to support thier own climate action efforts.
The Plan also shows how we can save money through energy efficiency and renewable energy. One great example of this is our new 8-acre solar field behind the Kane County Judicial Center. This system is feeding energy right into our buildings, saving the County a total of over $5 million over its lifetime.
